Collective 48 is a loose collaboration of Houston artists whose mission is to chill and make theatre. Their first project was Two! Short! Plays!, a house party/theatre event in The Heights. Producing The Future is Female Festival Houston is their second project. The members of Collective 48 are Brandy N. (Reichenberger) Carie, Dana Bowman, Julie Rutter, and Sam Mayer.
Mildred’s Umbrella Theatre was founded in Houston in 2001 by Jennifer Decker and John Harvey. Their mission is to challenge audiences and theatre artists by creating and performing bold, innovative, and fresh theatrical works grounded in the best traditions of the dramatic arts. With a strong feminine presence in their artistic vision, Mildred’s Umbrella strives to feature the work of female playwrights, actors, and directors, which promotes the empowerment of women through the performing arts. Mildred’s Umbrella Theatre is in its 13th full season, and has collaborated with such companies as Bobbindoctrin Puppet Theatre, Wordsmyth Theatre, University of Houston Honors College, and The Museum of Fine Arts Houston, among others.
